Marriages

Congratulations!  We are delighted you have decided to marry.  Marriage is a wonderful gift from God and as you enter this important union we want to help you make the best possible start.

When we agree to marry a couple, we are making a commitment to you and your future.  We want to do all we can to ensure their marriage is long-lasting, filled with joy, delight and determination.

We do not only marry people who go to church.  Indeed, most of those married at St Barnabas are not regular attendees.  We hope that over the period of your preparation that will change.  Life that is abundant and free, enriched with peace, hope and joy as human life is meant to be, is life lived in relationship with God through Jesus.

Booking a Wedding

To book a wedding, please contact either our church office of minister to check the availability of the date you have in mind and leave your details.  One of our ministers will make contact with you as soon as possible to come and see you and discuss any questions or issues you have and explain the marriage preparation we will be doing with you.  Finally, we ask for a $50 deposit to firm in the booking.

Marriage Preparation

At St Barnabas we have developed our own marriage preparation course.  In 6 sessions we will cover:
        1. Big issues of life which will bring you together or tear you apart
        2. Communication
        3. Conflict and fighting fair
        4. God's purpose for marriage and life
        5. Why things go wrong
        6. The keys to a marriage made in heaven.

During the preparation time we will also be creating a wedding service with you that will enable you to start your married life with great joy and expectation.
