Easter is on our doorstep, and with it comes the school holidays, the Easter Show and lots of chocolate. Indeed for many that’s all Easter is. Yet the reality is that Easter is about so much more! It is the celebration of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Some cynics say that Christianity is about power and institutions. Others say it is an emotional crutch to help the weak minded. Still others that it is a moral code. But the reality is that at its heart Christianity, is a relationship with the Lord of the Universe both in this life and into eternity. A new relationship based on forgiveness and mercy from God’s side and based on trust and repentance from our side. And this was the relationship God was establishing in Jesus’ death and resurrection.
This is the message we hold firmly to ourselves, and that we aim to hold out and share with our community who so desperately need Him. We aim to do this not only in our Easter services, but in everything we do and say as we fulfill our purpose as Christ’s ambassadors, calling people to “be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:19-20).
